Most of the equipments used in the communication systems nowadays, processes digitally the signals. That processing is possible due to one device that is implanted in the interface that accomplishes the reception and transmission of the signals, the A/D/A converter, which has as main function to transform analogical signals in digital signals and vice-versa. The digital processing performance is directly related with the precision and speed in which that transformation is accomplished. Among the several ones devices that accomplish that task, one has been showing better results with reduced cost, thanks to your simplicity and efficiency, the Sigma-Delta (‡”−?) converter. Therefore, some of its characteristics and applications will be shown.
